Technology entrepreneur instrumental in the development of two company start up companies active in Photonics. My experience and attributes lend themselves to senior executive positions in high tech business start ups or where company turnaround, the commercialisation of academic research and product management are required. Dr Gibson is a non-executive Director of Fibre Photonics Ltd. Dr Gibson brings 25 years experience in the optics and optoelectronics industry within both blue chip and start�]up companies.

As a previous CEO and shareholder of RTC Systems Ltd, a UK based optical thin film equipment company, he increased company turnover five fold in a three year period, resulting in acquisition of the company by Satis Vacuum AG in 2001. Subsequent to this acquisition, Dr Gibson was appointed to the board of Satis Vacuum AG. In 2003, he became one of the foundering directors of Applied Multilayers Ltd, a company which has developed innovative sputter deposition equipment for optical applications. This equipment is currently sold globally into precision optics, OLED displays and ophthalmic markets.

Dr Gibson is also involved as a co�]founder/ director in a number of other companies in optical and thin film industries, such as Thin Film Innovations Ltd, a spin�]out company from Strathclyde University Chemistry Department. In addition he is a member of TriCap business investment group, and provides regular diligence and business plan review input for prospective new investment opportunities. As a chartered engineer, Dr Gibson has over forty technical publications, ten patents and is a fellow of the Institute of Physics. From 2005 he has acted as an Honorary Professor at the Thin Film Centre, University of the West of Scotland.
